LET’S TALK ABOUT MAINTAINING A BULLY-FREE ZONE

Bullying is when someone says or does mean and hurtful things to make themselves seem better or stronger than you. Bullying is attacking someone physically or verbally, calling you hurtful names, spreading rumors or threatening to cause you physical harm by kicking, hitting or hurting you. Bullying is also trying to get others not to be friends with you. Bullying behavior happens more than once, it happens in person and it can also happen online, which is cyberbullying.

If someone bullies you or you witness someone else being bullied, you can say, “Stop!” and walk away to safety, directly to the first caring adult you can find who can help handle the situation. You do not have to stand and listen to a bully. Be an advocate for yourself and for someone else being bullied.

Don’t be afraid to share your thoughts, feelings and worries with your parents and teachers, they are ready to help you. Bullying is never okay. Do the right thing. It’s nice to be important, it’s more important to be nice. Maintain a bully-free zone.
